A Bad Case of the Stripes
Written and Illustrated by David Shannon

Modern Fantasy
Camilla Cream has a problem. After the first day of school, she develops stripes all over her body! Every time she tries to find a cure for her stripes, the sickness seems to become drastically worse. Will Camilla ever find the cure?
The illustrations in this book seem to be paintings of some kind. I really like how outlandish the depictions of Camilla are as her sickness worsens. They are very creative and colorful.
I would use this book in a kindergarten social studies lesson. I would give the students a journal topic and have them draw a picture of something they like. We would share everyone’s journal with the class and we could point out how we are all different and its okay to be different.
